Funny? I think so!

This lady thought it would be funny to toss a cat in a garbage can and was caught on a security camera. To be honest with you hate cats, so I giggled when I first saw it. Many people however did not and someone posted her name and address on the Net and she had an angry mob at her home and has received death threats.

What do you think? Funny or cruel? Are cats even considered pets?

By the way, the cat spent 15 hours in that can.....BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Wheelie bin....BAHAHAHAHAHA!

Sports Channels

I have been getting quite annoyed lately with the way 2 of Canada's sports channels decide to operate. 1st of all TSN. They claim to be "Canada's Sports Leader" . I think maybe they should change that slogan to "Eastern Canada's Sports Leader" If you ever watch Sportscentre you would think that the only teams in the CFL are Hamilton, Montreal and Toronto. Where is the team/player reports for the other 5 teams? How about a full 3 minute story on the play of Canadian receiver Robb Bagg? Or maybe how good of a leader John Hufnagle is leading the Stamps to a 6-1 record? Maybe a sit down with Ricky Ray? No. We get to see only the 3 eastern teams stories.

Next I would like to slap Sportsnet. Sure they have 4 regional channels which is good in a way. But why would you block Canucks, Sens, and Canadians games from the rest of the country? And with them being the sole broadcaster of the Jays, why launch a station that only people without Rogers Digital Cable get? Are you trying to make the rest of the Jays fans out there tune into radio broadcasts? Or just wait for the highlights to be on TSN cuz you guys are clueless when it comes to making a highlight show entertaining?

Jersey Shore Drinking Game

Are you tough enough to endure a Jersey Shore drinking game?

Drink whenever the cast visits the gym, tanning salon, Laundromat or barber shop.
Drink every time someone uses the word "Bro."
Drink whenever Snooki eats a pickle.
Drink when the cast members get into a fight.
Drink whenever any of the guys hit on a girl who may not be of legal age.
Drink whenever Snooki takes off an article of clothing or accidentally reveals more of herself. Drink twice if the editing crew hasn't made the shot blurred enough for you to endure without looking away.
Drink anytime a private security guard for the group makes his way into the shot or has to interfere in a fight.
Drink whenever JWoww adjusts herself on camera.
Drink whenever Snooki gets drunk and does something to entertain herself (dances by herself, makes random phone calls, builds a bubble bath cave, etc.).

Good luck, and enjoy your hangover!

Philly

Here is the clip of the kid at a Phillys game have a gulp of beer. To be honest, this probably happens all the time all over the place, it just so happens a camera was on this kid. Not saying that makes it right.

MLB

What a Saturday in Major League Baseball.

Roy Halliday pitches his first career perfect game. It is the 2nd perfect game this season. The part that blows my mind is that the Philly's only won the game 1-0. How brutal would that have been if Roy tossed a perfect game and didn't get the win because his team didn't score any runs and had to come out of the game in the 11th inning. Come on guys, when your pitcher is perfect get some run support to help him out.

Next we have David Huff. Pitcher for the Cleveland Indians. Takes a line drive right off the head, ball bounces into left field and Alex Rodriguez is credited with a double and RBI. BRUTAL! Huff is a major leaguer, it should have been scored an error for Huff. Catch that!

Then we have Kendry Morales. Hits a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th vs Seattle. As he comes around 3rd base his teammates wait at home to celebrate with the 'hero'. Kendry tosses off his lid, jumps in the air, lands on the plate, snaps his leg. What an idiot. Needs surgery to fix his leg and won't be "walking off" anywhere for 6-8 weeks.

Here are some videos of the events

Under My Skin

Judith Graves has launched her new book in a series of 3. Its called "Under My Skin". We had her in the studio on Wednesday and she didn't think a guy like me would want to read her book, but I promised I would and I am happy to say it is going pretty good.

Its about a girl who is half were wolf and half human and she kills monsters basically. What they do now is make these trailors for books so people can get a visual of what a book will be so you can judge it not by its cover but by its mini-movie.

Festival Of Speed-Back To Back Baby!!!

This past weekend marked the 25th Anniversary of the Lac La Biche Festival of speed. Every year there is a 'Media Race' featuring people from the media such as my self, Genevieve from 1310 CHLW, Chris Gill from 95.3 K-ROCK, Scott Campbell from Big Dog 103.5, Mark Cappis from The River 94.1, and some dude from "View Weekly" which is a free magazine out of Edmonton (damn memory).

Now if you are unfamiliar to what this is, it is a weekend event feature car racing, motor bike racing, and ski-doo drags, all on the lake. There are a few divisions for the car racing such as Chevette Rubber, Chevette Studded, and Neon Studded.

I raced in the Neon Studded category the last 2 years. Last year I was able to win quite easily as I got out front and didn't let up. I was presented a nice trophy which is proudly on display here at KOOL 101.3.

This year I went into the race with confidence riding high and was able to defend my title. It was a tougher race as the 'view' guy was on my tail and in front of me all race but when the checkered flag came down I was in front and was presented with my second straight 1st place trophy. It is a ton of fun and if you ever get a chance to race a car on ice DO IT!

Here is an aerial view of the track we raced around

I understand more pictures will be coming my way so when I get them I will post them on here as well as Facebook.

Next year I go for the "Three-pete"!

Numbers Don't Lie

Mathematicians have come up with a 'fiancee formula' that allows men to work out the perfect time to pop the question. All the guy needs is the age he would first consider marrying and his cut-off point -- and the equation does the rest. Math professor Anthony Dooley said: 'Applying math to matters of the heart is always dangerous. In life you are dealing with emotions and have to think much harder. But if you want to work out the right moment to start getting serious, this gives you a mathematical framework.' The formula is based on a statistical technique known as optimal stopping - or the best time to do something.

Wanna figure it for your self?

I know....I know

It has been a long time since I blogged. I have been kinda busy as of late, and to be honest nothing has really caught my attention to blog about.

The Grammys were last night and I was able to watch the last 45 minutes or so as I was travelling. I was quite disappointed in the censorship if Lil Wayne, Eminem, Drake, and Travis Barker collaboration. The completely turned the sound off for most of the song because of inappropriate lyrics. Why would the Grammys allow them to perform a song if it wasn't able to be listened to by the TV audience. It made me change the channel. Those award shows are pretty lame anyways.

This week is the Alberta Winter games here in the Lakeland. I will be attending the Opening Ceremonies on Thursday night and will be at the snow boarding on Friday. It should be alot of fun and I am pretty excited to feel the energy that will be emitted from the 2500 Athletes plus all the fans who will be here for the weekend.

Ok so maybe not everything about the Grammys made me change the channel
Stay Healthy!!!!

SAD DAY

Another picture from my dad. There has been a non life threatening injury confirmed by The Winnipeg Free Press, but no word who or the extent of the injuries.
Please leave some of your favorite memories of the old barn in the comments section....one of my favorite memories would be the shoes being tossed onto the ice after Klipper goals, and hosting a few Provincial Hockey championships and having that big air horn go off when we scored.
I am absolutely shocked and in disbelief of the news that the West Central Events Center in my home town of Kindersley Saskatchewan was lost today. I am speechless

I stole this picture from Janelle McCullough on facebook.

If you have any other pictures please email them to me at dlee@newcap.ca and leave any comments below.

I have a family member, Dayna Demmons, who was curling in the Scotties there so I hope they are all safe. (GOT WORD THAT THE CURLERS ARE FINE)

This one was sent from my dad.

Lakeland 2010 Alberta Winter Games

This week sure is flying by! We are less than a month away from the Lakeland 2010 Alberta Winter Games. Results are starting to come in with regards to people/teams that have qualified to play in the games.
The Bonnyville Pee Wee Pontiacs beat Red Water for the chance to represent Zone 2 at the games. The boys and parents are pumped to be representing the zone as the host city! Good work boys.

That is all I have for right now so if you know of any athletes or teams that have qualified for the games please email me at dlee@newcap.ca

How about that Gold Medal game at the WJHC!!!?? It sure was an amazing game. It got me thinking this morning about the people who are not sports fans. What else is there to watch on TV that can have you happy and excited one minute, cursing and pissed right off the next, then jumping up and down like a little kid, then sitting in silence trying to come up with some way that what you just saw didn't happen???? Its an emotional roller coaster that I absolutely love taking!!!!

Next up....cheering for Team Canada at the Olympics.

Change

New look to the blog today. I had a special someone make me a logo and do a few changes that she felt would make it look a little better. She did such a good job, maybe I will marry her this June!!!

As I look at the new look blog it reminds of how angry people get when things change. Remember how many people are completely outraged and claim they will quit using facebook when it goes through changes. I am still waiting for those people to quit. Also all the facebook groups that get started saying if 1,000,000 people join you can get the old facebook back. I have never ever been in this group of people because change does not scare me. Unless some asks me to roll a whole bucket of change, that is something I dis like.

Speaking of dis like, when is Facebook going to get a dislike button. Has there been 1 million people join that group yet? and when is that guy going to shave his moustache or quit smoking? come one people join those groups!!!! (sarcasm)

Cold

I find it kinda amusing that the first day of winter is still a week away. Today with the wind chill it is supposed to feel like -43 Centigrade. Here is hoping that we have a much warmer winter than we had in the fall.

The Bonnyville Pontiacs played very well over this past weekend. The played Spruce Grove on Saturday and, despite playing very well, lost by a score of 4-1. Spruce Grove is ridiculously good. They are huge with most the team being 6'2" or taller, the are fast, skilled and can even read each others minds. You put all those attributes together and it is no fluke they have been ranked either 1 or 2 in Canada all year long. With out a doubt I think they would be able to compete in the WHL they are that good!

Then the Pontiacs took on the Lloydminster Bobcats, a team that is struggling mightily in this AJHL season. Coming into the game the Cats had only scored 2 goals in the last 5 games and were losers of 12 in a row. As you might expect the Pontiacs dominated most of the game and came away with a 3-2 win.

Lloyd Sucks

Next action for the Pontiacs is this Wednesday on the road in Sherwood Park. Catch all the action on Kool 101 dot 3 or http://www.1013koolfm.com/ starting at 7:15.

A lot of school buses were cancelled today due to the extreme cold and that got Robb and I thinking of all the games we used to play in class when most of the kids were away because of the weather. We agreed that 'Heads down Thumbs up' was probably the best. Coming in a distant 2nd is 4 corners which was pretty lame when you think about it. Now the best game that I have ever heard of would have to be 'The Floor Is Lava:Classroom Edition'. Now this is a variation of the game "tag" but you have to stay on the tops of the desk cuz the floor is lava. I unfortunately never had a chance to play this one but it should awesome and dangerous all at the same time. If you have a game that you remember as being the best in class game during your school days leave a comment and Robb and I will discuss tomorrow morning.

Friday

So Monsieur Dan Golby and his little side kick Turd Ferguson (frequent callers to 'Mornings with Dean and Robb') stopped in at KOOL today and brought us some lunch. 8 breakfast sandwiches, 12 donuts, and a can of french vanilla cappuccino from Tim Hortons. They have challenged all other listeners to top that and buy food for 'Mornings with Dean and Robb' from now till the end of the year. Do your part people!!!!!

Pontiac news-
Shawn Bates will be out 4-6 weeks with an undisclosed injury that has been nagging for the last month.
Coach Chad Mercier hasn't bought any gifts yet this year.
And finally the Pontiacs have a pair of home games this weekend starting tomorrow when they take on the top team in the AJHL, ranked #2 in Canada, the Spruce Grove Saints. The game should be a doozy and I am looking forward to doing color for that one this Saturday. Puck drops at 7:30 MST from the R.J. Lalande Arena. Catch the action starting at 7:15 MST on KOOL 101.3.

Also the brutal Lloydminster Bobcats come to town Sunday. That game is at 6 MST with the pre game show starting at 5:45 MST.

Lloyd sucks

Sometimes when I sit back and take it all in, I realize how cool of a job I really have. I hope this doesn't come off like I am bragging but in the last 15 months I have been able to interview/meet; Bedouin Soundclash, Lillix, Gerry Dee, The Roadhammers, Olympic Curler Ed Luckowich, Kevin Martin, Farley Flex, April Wine, Mobile, JFLOW, and possibly a few more that I can't remember right now. Had I not gotten in to Radio I would never have been able to talk to any of these people let alone shake their hands. What can I say, I love my job! I think a person has to in order to wake up at 4:30 every morning in the -40 degree winter (-51 with the windchill, not even exaggerating) and come to work and think of ways to make YOU smile.

I hope you have enjoyed what I have been doing in the Lakeland for the last 15 months cuz I have been having a blast! I think I even have a few 'fans'

Ok maybe not as hard core as these people but a fan is a fan....check out how creepy buddy on the right is.....weird.
